Gender-based violence is the type of violence directed towards women by those who are or have been involved with them in emotional relationships (partners or ex-partners). The abuser’s objective is to cause harm and assert control over the woman, and this often takes place persistently over time.

Discriminating against a person based on their racial or ethnic origin is an illegal act that goes against the constitutional right to equality (Article 14 of the Spanish Constitution) and against Law 62/2003, which specifically regulates the application of the principle of equal treatment for individuals, regardless of their racial or ethnic origin.

Institutional violence occurs when officials or authorities hinder, delay, or prevent access to public life and the exercise of people’s rights.

What should I do if I suffer institutional violence?
1- REQUEST A COMPLAINT FORM from the establishment where the incident occurred, complete the form, and submit it at the establishment.
– If your complaint pertains to the actions of an authority or an essential service (such as basic utilities like water, gas, banking services), it is necessary to have previously lodged a complaint with the relevant responsible authority or the entity overseeing the actions of the supplying company.
IF THE BUSINESS OWNER OR PROFESSIONAL DOES NOT HAVE COMPLAINT FORMS AVAILABLE, or if you prefer, you can also submit a written statement that includes the details of the party filing the complaint and the party being complained against, a description of the events, and the request or demand.
