1. DEFINITION

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT?

  • The municipal registration serves as proof of residence in a municipality.
  • The municipal registration is essential for processing what is known as “Arraigo”. Arraigo is a kind of spanish residence permit.
  • Arraigo is not required for municipal registration.
  • Residence´s changes must be reported immediately.
  • Non-European community foreigners -or those with temporary residence permits- must renew their municipal registration every 2 years.
  • You have to check your initial registration´s date or the last renewal at the municipality registration´s certificate.
  • European community foreigners – or those with permanent residence permits- must confirm their registration every 5 years from the municipal registration´s date.

HOW TO OBTAIN

To register in the Municipal Registry, you must visit one of the designated Municipal Offices which provides the service.

2. MUNICIPAL REGISTER OF THE CITY OF VALENCIA.

To obtain Municipal Registration at the city of Valencia, it is necessary to submit the following documents:

  • Completed application form, provided by the City Council.
  • ID card (DNI), passport, or residence card.
  • Rental contract or property deeds, depending on whether you will be living as a tenant or owner. Alternatively, you can submit an authorization signed by the owner of the property or by a person already registered at that address. If you are registering your child(ren), you should present their ID card, passport, residence card, or family book.

2.2. HOW TO OBTAIN THE CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION?

To obtain the Certificate of Registration, you can do so in one of the following ways:

2.3. REGISTRATION IN SPECIAL SITUATIONS – City Council of Valencia:

If you don’t have a rental contract, a fixed address, or you are in a situation of homelessness, but you residence is in Valencia, you can request registration in special situations.
